Reeder Sams II, Ph.D., is the principal risk assessment research scientist at UL Research Institutes’ Chemical Insights, focusing on hazard evaluation of chemicals. He held senior positions in his previous role, including serving as a director of multiple teams and as an executive supporting financial management.
His expertise includes toxicology, human health risk assessment, and computational toxicology for regulatory decisions. Sams has led significant health assessments and co-founded a training program for risk assessment, training over 2,000 professionals globally.
He holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Toxicology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from West Virginia University. He has received multiple awards for his contributions to risk assessment methodologies.
