Sharing research for healthier, safer campuses

Scientists from Chemical Insights shared key research findings at the 74th Annual Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) Conference in Austin earlier this month. Our team members gave presentations on “An Interdisciplinary Approach to Lithium-Ion Battery Safety” and “Assessment of Inhalation Risks Associated with Off Gassing from 3D Printing Dental Resins.”

We also hosted a booth where we shared resources with the environmental health and safety (EHS) professionals in attendance. Providing our latest insights with EHS professionals helps ensure that those tasked with creating healthier, safer environments for students are equipped with evidence-based guidance.

Updated 3D printer safety toolkit turns research into action

As 3D printing becomes increasingly common in classrooms, offices, makerspaces, and homes, understanding its potential impact on indoor air quality is an important step toward protecting human health. Building on our previous studies of 3D printer emissions and their impacts, we have updated our 3D Printer Safety Toolkit with the latest findings and insights.

The expanded resource now includes guidance for both material extrusion (i.e., filament-based) and vat photopolymerization (i.e., resin-based) 3D printers, as well as exposure mitigation strategies tailored to each type.
