In today’s world, people are increasingly exposed to complex chemical mixtures from consumer products, emerging technologies, environmental sources, and natural disasters. Understanding how these multi‑component chemical exposures affect human health is critical to advancing chemical safety and risk reduction.
During this one‑hour session, experts from Chemical Insights will explore how toxicology, exposure science, and data analytics work together to identify, characterize, and mitigate emerging chemical risks.
This webinar will highlight how these interdisciplinary research centers collaborate to:
Moderator: Russell Thomas, Ph.D., is the Vice President and Executive Director of UL Research Institutes’ Chemical Insights. With over two decades of experience in computational toxicology and environmental health research, Thomas leads Chemical Insights’ research teams. He spearheads the strategy driving Chemical Insights to be the leader in reducing or eliminating adverse human health impacts of chemical pollution in the environment and everyday life.
Presenter: Mark Wilson, Ph.D., MSPH, CIH, is the research director for the Center for Analytical & Exposure Science within UL Research Institutes’ Chemical Insights. His work aims to characterize exposures associated with various occupational and environmental scenarios to evaluate health risks.
Presenter: Christa Wright, Ph.D., is the senior research director of the Center for Toxicology & Human Health within UL Research Institutes’ Chemical Insights. Her work aims to unravel particle and chemical-mediated molecular mechanisms that cause cellular phenotypic changes, which may lead to disease development.
Who should attend:
Professionals in environmental health, toxicology, industrial hygiene, chemical safety, public health, regulatory science, and product stewardship.
Series Description:
UL Research Institutes’ Chemical Insights is an independent, nonprofit research organization that delivers unbiased, cutting-edge research on chemical risks to human health. Our four-part 2026 webinar series, “Chemical Safety for Individual and Community Health,” will highlight our innovative research approaches towards understanding health risks posed by chemicals. Attendees will learn about Chemical Insights’ mission and how our research initiatives are shaping the future of chemical safety.
