Laboratory Analytical Chemistry Technician, UL Research Institutes' Chemical Insights

Anna Boatman, Ph.D., is a laboratory analytical chemistry technician at UL Research Institutes’ Chemical Insights. Anna is involved in setting up the new non-targeted analysis (NTA) laboratory space and instrumentation, generating spectral libraries, preparing and analyzing samples, performing both targeted and non-targeted analyses, and developing informatics tools to make NTA data more accessible.

Anna holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a B.S. in Pharmacology/Toxicology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Between degrees, she held roles as a Planning & Scheduling Specialist, Project Manager, and Production Scientist at MilliporeSigma. In her doctoral research, she specialized in using NTA techniques to study per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in complex biological samples including fish tissue, alligator blood, and more.
